Who we are

The Gate Lodge at Dunnanew is a self catering cottage located in the tranquil countryside ofCounty Down, Northern Ireland. Recently rennovated to the highest of standards, and refurbished with all new furniture and fixings, The Gate Lodge at Dunnanew provides the perfect location for a family get away or a romantic break. Some of the original features of the property have been preserved, giving you that country cottage feel the moment you step inside. Located just a 10 mins drive from both Newcastle and Downpatick and 50 mins from Belfast, it is sure to have something for everyone.

The property is set on the edge of Dunnanew Farm, 80 acres of private farmland belonging to one of our sister companies, Poinview Farms.

The cottage has undergone substantial renovations and refurbishment since its acquisition in 2020.

History Lesson

The Gate Lodge at Dunnanew was one of many ‘labourers cottages’ built in the early 1900s, similar to the one in the photo above. These cottages were initially state funded but later the option to purchase them meant that the houses were able to be developed with the growing times. Our cottage has seen subsequent renovations, including and extension (which is now our kitchen, hallway and bathroom) in circa 1960s. Imagine a large family living in the 3 rooms before the extension!

Most Recent Refurb

Completed in 2023, the most recent refurbishment saw a complete overhaul of all internals, keeping only the existing structure and layout. Outside we revamped the garden to make it more secure, open and inviting. The most exciting task was restoring the well to its former glory! A truly unique feature we just had to keep!
